Anxiety can show up in different forms depending on the situation and person. Some may feel high-intensity moments of panic which are often called panic attacks. While others may feel a more drawn-out day-to-day anxiety. Symptoms of an anxiety disorder can include irritability, restlessness, disturbed sleep, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, increased heart rate, and muscle tension.
Depression can make many tasks in life look daunting, including therapy. When depression is present some may notice they have a decreased interest in activities, changes in sleep, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness, low motivation, weight or appetite changes, and poor concentration.
Big changes in life can often impact mental health in ways we hadn't expected. This can include changes in things like relationships, employment, gender or sexual identity, and more. These transitions may cause or increase symptoms of stress, anxiety, or depression.
Mental health concerns can show up in the pregnancy and postpartum stages. This can present as depression, anxiety disorders, and postpartum psychosis. Early detection and treatment of these concerns can improve health outcomes for both parent and baby.
